Throughout the past few weeks, they have worked with me to improve upon what Carrick did and to do some other physical training as well. When I got back from Carrick, my headaches had started to fade, but were not fully gone. They did amazing work down in Georgia in the short time that they had, while also setting me up to succeed when I worked with Dr. Garcia. Had I not gone down to Georgia, I would not be better by this point and it probably would have taken a few more months. When I got back from Carrick, I started to go to ChiroPro as much as I could, eager to get rid of my headaches. Within a few weeks, ChiroPro did just that.
I have been out of sports for nine months and finally I got cleared. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life. While it may seem small to you guys, it was not to me. This is a huge deal for my family and me. I was so excited and happy that when I heard the news I actually did a little dance. My mom almost broke into tears when she heard I had been cleared and my family members were all elated. The final test that they had me do was a balance test. You stand with your eyes open, then your eyes closed, then on a squishy mat with eyes open, then a squishy mat with eyes closed. The goal is to stand as still as you can. It measures your balance to make sure your vestibular system is working properly. I did the test for about five minutes. At that time I had no clue that if I did well I would be cleared, so when I heard that I was cleared, I was shocked.
There is one last thing that I need to say to many people; thank you all so much for your support throughout this whole process of me dealing with my concussion. Without your support I'm not sure I would have been able to make it through the difficult situation. I would also like to say a special thanks to those who did not only just say something nice or say something to cheer me up. These people are all of my teachers who made an effort to make accommodations for me. When I was having trouble keeping up on my work, they would tell me that it was okay. The next group I need to thank is the doctors. They worked their hardest to get me to a place where I would be able to live a normal life. Out of those doctors I would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Barton from Carrick and Dr. Garcia from ChiroPro. Finally the most important of all. I would like to say a huge thank you to my parents. They worked with me for nine stressful months to make me better. They paid for doctors appointment and even to go down to Georgia. My parents were the whole reason that I was able to do the stuff that has helped me. They did not just tell me to wait it out and I would be fine. They really took it into their own hands to make me better. I know that without all of these people I would not have made it through this difficult situation and once again I would like to say thank you to all of those who helped me and supported me during this rough patch in my life..
